Toradol or Ketorolac is a very effective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug used for the acute treatment (5 to 7 days) of pain related to injuries, dental problems, postoperative pain or pain after giving birth. This medication works by decreasing a substance in the body that leads to inflammation and pain.

Drug Interactions:

There are some drugs that interact with this medicine and may increase or decrease its activity, these include:Lithium, antibiotics (Gentamycin), beta blockers, Phenytoin, Lithium, Aspirin, ACE inhibitors (Ramipril or Captopril), multivitamins and Methotrexate.

Contraindications:

Do not use Toradol 10mg tablet if you:

  • have gastrointestinal disorders like inflammatory bowel disease
  • are hypersensitive to Generic Ketorolac or any ingredients of this medicine
  • are currently taking other NSAIDs (Naproxen, Ibuprofen, Diclofenac)
  • have bleeding disorders or bleeding in the brain
  • have severely reduced liver function or liver disease
  • have decreased kidney function or are at risk of kidney failure
  • have high levels of potassium in the blood

 

Storage conditions:

Store Toradol tablets at room temperature protected from light, and keep it out of the reach of children.

Dosage regimen:

The usual adult dose of Toradol tablet is 10 mg via oral route of administration every 4 to 6 hours as per the requirement in pain. It is recommended not to take more than 40 mg on a daily basis. You must take this tablet with meals or a snack in order to lessen stomach upset. After you have taken Toradol 10mg tablet, remain sitting or standing erect for 15 to 30 minutes to further decrease acid from the stomach irritating the throat.

Side effects:

  • People may experience side effects on using Toradol 10mg tablet including bruising at place of injection, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, indigestion, burning or pain at place of injection, increased skin sensitivity to sunlight and/or stomach upset.

Precautionary measures:

  • Avoid the use of Toradol tablets if you are in the third trimester of pregnancy or are breast-feeding your child.
  • Do not take Ketorolac if you are scheduled for surgery in the immediate future or have just had surgery.
